The St Albans Town Centre is a community hub that people like to visit, shop and socialise in due to the colourful and dynamic multiplicity of cultures present.  

Just under 300 businesses operate within the Town Centre and include a mix of retail, cafes and restaurants, grocers, professional and community services. The Town Centre is St Albans’ main commercial and shopping precinct.

Alfrieda Street

Commonly known as the main shopping area, Alfrieda Street is a busy bustling hive of activity.  Largely dominated by Vietnamese restaurants, grocers and specialty goods stores – giving this street strip an ‘Asian feel’.

East Esplanade

A mix of retail, takeaway food and variety stores welcome you along East Esplanade, with key anchors including a major supermarket and Victoria Square shopping hub and the St Albans Post Office.

Main Road East

This area houses most of the professional services - employment agencies, community services, offices and connects nearby Victoria University.  The precinct is supplemented by an array of Eastern European, Asian and African retailers.

Main Road West

St Albans Road

A main entry and exit point into the Town Centre, it houses one of the precincts jewels - St Albans Market. The St Albans railway station, transport interchange provides easy connections to St Albans Square, Alfrieda Street Plaza and the rest of the Town Centre.

About SABGAI

The St Albans Business Group Association Incorporated (SABGAI) represents the retail traders and businesses of the St Albans Town Centre who contribute to a marketing, events and promotions Special Rate Scheme administered by Brimbank City Council. The SABGAI is run by a committee and it acts on behalf of traders to make key decisions relating to promoting the shopping precinct and promoting the interests of members and their customers.

SABGAI Committee

The SABGAI will promote and support all business operators in the St Albans Town Centre as defined by the boundaries of the Special Rate Scheme administered by Brimbank City Council. Any business affected by the Special Rate is welcome to attend SABGAI committee meetings held monthly.
