2021 marked a new chapter for St Albans Town Centre - and the beginning of our journey together.

In the midst of a global pandemic, as lockdowns and health restrictions swept across Victoria, the much-loved St Albans Lunar New Year Festival was faced with an impossible question: how do we celebrate culture and community in isolation?

Rather than cancel, the St Albans Business Group Association (SABGAI) decided to innovate. With homegrown leadership and a newly revitalised visual identity, SABGAI launched its first-ever Digital Lunar Festival, a bold step into the future.

Perm Temp Pty Ltd was proud to partner with the team on a complete rebrand, a new website, and the creative production of this unprecedented digital event. On 10 January 2021, the festival premiered on YouTube, giving audiences a front-row seat to the magic of St Albans - no matter where they were.

The 2021 St Albans Lunar New Year Festival (Digital Edition) brought the spirit of celebration into homes across the country with:

  • A rich showcase of traditional dance and music
  • Interviews with local community members and traders
  • Highlights of beloved local cuisines and businesses
  • A moving tribute to the strength and resilience of the St Albans community

Recognition and Impact

This creative leap forward was recognised at a national level. St Albans Town Centre was awarded the Program Initiative, Activity or Event Award (Budget under $100K, Special Rate) by Mainstreet Australia, celebrating outstanding delivery and impact through digital innovation.
