In March 2025, food lovers from across the country descended on the west for a flavour-filled journey through one of Melbourne’s most authentic and underrated culinary destinations - St Albans Town Centre!

As part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the St Albans Street Eats Wander invited guests to taste their way through the town centre, discovering the stories, families, and flavours that have shaped this vibrant precinct.

Over a dozen guests joined the experience, some travelling from as far as Brisbane and Sydney, to explore what locals know well: St Albans is a hidden gem of global cuisine.

🍽️ A Taste of the World, One Stop at a Time

Proudly delivered by Brimbank City Council and supported by the St Albans Business Association, the curated food tour showcased the multicultural depth of the community:

  • St Albans Market (Big SAM) kicked things off with fresh produce and nut tastings.
  • Next Mart offered a rich spread of Balkan cheeses and smallgoods, giving guests a true taste of Eastern Europe.
  • Hartna Restaurant brought the heat with mouth-watering Iraqi kebabs, grilled fresh and full of soul.
  • The Runaway Pancake served up sweet and savoury crepes, offering a cosy, nostalgic stop in the journey.
  • Pacific Mix / Monte Coffee Café wrapped up the afternoon on Princess Street with comforting brews and final bites.

Each stop offered more than food... it offered conversation. Stories were shared about migration, tradition, and the ways in which hospitality and community are intertwined in St Albans.

🙌 A Celebration of Culture and Community

The St Albans Wander was more than just a tour, it was a celebration of culture, resilience, and the spirit of small business. As guests walked from venue to venue, they were immersed in the flavours and personal histories that make St Albans not only a great place to eat, but a powerful example of how food connects us all.
